Catch of the Day
DiCaprio continued to add to his long list of characterful and memorable movie roles with his turn as Frank Abagnale Jr. in the 2002 hit Catch Me if You Can. Starring alongside Tom Hanks, DiCaprio portrayed a long-term con artist constantly on the run from Hanks’ policeman character.
DiCaprio’s character also charmed a lot of ladies throughout the movie’s depiction of his life, cementing the idea of him having a real gift for striking up romantic relationships both on and off-screen.
As well as his super-successful movie roles and romantic relationships, DiCaprio’s career was about to take an interesting turn because of a new relationship of a different nature.
That relationship would be a friendship with legendary film director and producer Martin Scorsese. 2002 saw DiCaprio star in Scorsese’s historical epic Gangs of New York alongside Cameron Diaz and Daniel Day-Lewis. This partnership would be the first of many times that DiCaprio and Scorsese would work together. But this professional connection was not the only significant relationship in Leo’s life at that time.
