Bidding Her Farewell
The year of 2015 would prove to have a very rough start for Estela. Her 74-year-old marriage would at last be broken, as she’d one day wake up to find that Manuel had quietly passed on at the age of 91. Estela and Manuel’s greatest regret and suffering was that they could not give birth to their own children and start a family. This is what they wanted most of all but unfortunately Estela was sterile and therefore could not get pregnant. Being only a year younger, Estela would struggle with the daily realities of being home alone, managing the house alone and cooking for one.
While trying to find the solution, the couple knocked on every door, but Estela’s fertility issues were a mystery to everyone. After having spent three-quarters of a century building a life with her soulmate, the loss must have been incalculable. They had lived through far too many experiences to quantify them all — and that included some memories better left forgotten. Up until this point, no one really knew, but the couple held close one giant regret that they wanted to take to their graves. At the age of 91, it was difficult, if not impossible, to carry out the daily chores of the house, it required a tremendous effort from the old lady.
