For more than 1,300 years, a treasure lay uncovered until the land changed and forests became a pasture for the farms. Then, a few years ago, treasure hunters came on a farmer’s land to ask him if they could walk around his field and use their metal detectors. Little did Fred Johnson, the farmer, know that one man would uncover this amazing treasure. And none of them ever thought that this discovery would turn the two acquaintances into rivals. This is how everything started.
A Huge Discovery
Terry Herbert was only 54 when he uncovered a huge Anglo-Saxon hoard buried in the field of 65-year-old farmer Fred Johnson. The farmer recalls: “I told one I’d lost a wrench and asked him to find that,” and he had no idea that Terry would find something other than a rusty wrench!
