Vinegar and baking soda are the holy grail when it comes to diy household cleaning. However, lemon is also a great asset for house maintenance. It is a fruit that has multiple uses in the house outside of the kitchen! Here are some tips to make your home shine with lemon.
1. To descale and clean your kettle
If you use your kettle on a daily basis, you have probably noticed that the water leaves white marks on the bottom of the kettle, also known as lime! This is where the lemon comes in.
Boil water in the kettle with a few slices of lemon and let it stand for a while. Your kettle will be like new and there won’t be any weird taste when you drink your tea!
2. To have stoves like new
If you still find stubborn stains after washing your pots, then it is probably time to put away your sponge and dish soap.
Take a lemon, cut it in half and sprinkle it with salt. Use your lemon half as a sponge and scrub your pans! Dry them with absorbent paper or a cloth and your pots will be like new!
3. To save a burnt pan
If your food experiments fail and burn down your favorite pan, the lemon will be there to save you again! Cut a few lemons into pieces and place them in the burnt pan filled with water.
Bring the water to a boil and let it heat up for a few minutes. Then take a wooden spoon and scrape the burns from the bottom of the pan. Leave the pan to cool then empty it and clean it normally. And voila, it is now clean!
4. Against flow problems
We have all experienced problems with the sinks in our homes. But you can officially say goodbye to this problem thanks to the lemon. This time round you will need to combine the lemon with baking soda.
Sprinkle some baking soda over the sink and then squeeze a lemon over it. Leave it on for an hour and then rinse it off with water. There will be no more foul odors and the water should drain perfectly!
