Monopoly is not allowed
This is the most unusual rule on our list! Our children have grown up playing Monopoly, we never really thought it was anything bad that they or we weren’t supposed to play it. After all, its a fun game and sounds like a good pastime. But that is not how the British royal family views it, they are of a different view than ours. Inside the royal house, it is forbidden to play Monopoly. The reason? The Duke of York in 2008 defined it as a ‘vicious’ pastime, urging the Queen’s subordinates to refrain from such playful activity. Did that sound shocking to you?
It might sound strange, but if you’ve ever played a game of Monopoly with your family, you know how vicious it can get. It’s a fun game, but it also has the power to break family ties! We can’t help but imagine Prince Charles knocking over a table after Princess Beatrice bought two or three properties of the same color. Members of the royal family are like us, they like to spend time together doing fun activities, but when it comes to Monopoly, they do not approve of it. It only sounds right after we have learned their entire viewpoint. Imagine a member of the royal family saying they loved playing Monopoly and were quite good at the game.
