The rules Kate Middleton must follow prove that life as a princess is not easy!

She can’t give her back to the queen

One more rule involving the mighty Queen Elizabeth II! The Duchess can’t literally turn her back on the Queen. She must always be the first to leave a location and the rest of the royal family must follow. Imagine, being a grand daughter-in-law to the Queen and leaving a function before anyone else with the Queen walking behind you. It sounds so disrespectful. To prevent such an awkward situation, the family members are arranged to sit and stand orderly, one after another. To say the least, they need to make sure to avoid any unintended disrespect to the senior members of the family, and this is a great way of management.

This rule does not apply only to Duchess Kate, but to anyone who chats with Queen Elizabeth. You cannot turn your back on her unless she allows you to. It is seen as a lack of respect for her and at the same time for the whole of the UK. The ethic is that when the Queen has finished speaking with you, you take a few steps back, bow your head and greet her, and then you can leave. That’s not a hard rule to remember, who would dare turning their back on Her Majesty during a conversation. Turning one’s back on a king in the past was considered an act of treason, punishable by death.
