A happy man
The British public felt that Camilla was trying to take Diana’s place. It was not going well at all. However, the whole affair was also difficult for the family themselves. Indeed, although Camilla was Prince Charles’ choice of heart, she was not the one her family intended for him. Despite all odds, Charles was bent on getting her by his side for life. He didn’t care about public opinion. He was reckless and did as he wanted. The public resentment didn’t seem to affect him for once. And we all know how important respect for morals, conventions and protocol is within the royal family. But Charles appeared indifferent.
Things were different, and the family had to come together to make it work. Being married to Camilla made Charles very happy. Camilla was also helpful in this transition, more than she thought. Princess Diana’s children were devastated when they lost their mom, and they needed someone to help them with their grief, but Camilla’s presence would only have hurt them even more to see the woman their father had mistreated their mother for. Princess Diana is unforgettable and irreplaceable. But Camilla’s arrival in the royal family was bound to happen, given Charles’ desperate love for her.
